Monday 16th February

Another visit to Silves with H and S. This time to go to the market, and of course to see the Moorish castle again. ( Moorish castles very moreish!).Bought coffee at the same market stall that K and N had bought from a couple of weeks ago at the market in Algoz. This confirmed our suspicion that most of the stalls are the same at all these markets, apart from the ones selling fruit and vegetables who are genuine locals selling their own produce.
Lunch at the Kafe Ingles which was open this time, then for the Silves levada walk we had done with N and Ca couple of days previously. Our friendly guide dog was not around again, but then nor was the extremely ferocious gurad dog who lives behind the cafe where the walk starts. We think he may have exploded in a rage or simply strangled himself on his chain. Anyway, we did not miss him. Walked as far as the cafe run by friendly Azorean/Portugese lady who has lived in Canada for years. Left Sissel at the cafe as she was not feling very well and the three of us walked back to fetch the car. Arrived at the car to oldish British couple in some distress trying to change a wheel on their hire car as they had just hit a pothole ( lots of them on this road) and ruined both and actual wheel. Helped them change the wheel ( husband looked as if he was about the have a heart attack, so we hoped we also rescued him from that), fetched Sisel who had in the meantime got the cafe owner's entire life story, and then home for dinner.
