Another at home day. Decided to get the bikes out and cycle down to Paderne this morning. First time we have been out on the bikes together since we came. Coffee in our usual place. On the way back passed Malcolm and Anita’s house and said hallo over the wall as we passed. This led to our being invited in for coffee or a drink, and then this led to lunch, so we ended up staying for a couple of hours. Entertained by their stories of the early days at Larga Vista. Endless material here for a very entertaining book on the lines of “A year in Provence”, except that theirs would be much more interesting and much funnier .We had originally intended to go and see the carnival procession in one of the nearby villages, but we stayed so long with Anita and Malcolm, that it was too late by the time we set off for home. Never mind, next year perhaps. Had a taste of carnival when we went back to Paderne for dinner this evening and there were still people in fancy dress walking round in the streets and filling the cafes. The streets were cluttered with a lot of streamers, so we obviously missed some fun.
Discovered good new and slightly upmarket restaurant in Paderne.
