Thursday 26th. Guest Day
Guest Day. Bruce and Jennifer (and her cousin) and Malcolm and Anita are coming to dinner today, so preparations necessary…also a certain amount of “managing without all the things we have to hand at home”. These places are decidedly haphazardly equipped. Last year we had 15 wine glasses and three plates. This year we had one wine glass and five plates. Don’t think Sue believes in things like inventories. Anyway she has kindly said we can borrow the next door property as it is better equipped to receive visitors and has rather posh fairly antique-looking furniture, though the same idiosyncratic selection of plates and cutlery ( in fact no dinner plates at all!).
Have otherwise been taking it easy as N did his left achilles tendon in yesterday on the long walk and can’t walk today ( or for the next several, by the look of it!). Anyway, one of the other expats down here is very friendly and happens to be a physiotherapist, so I might mention it to her.
Friends to dinner was a great success. Hilarious evening with good friends we have made here.
